Hirtshals companies showed their competences at the fishing exhibition DanFish 2013

9-11 October, the Port of Hirtshals and the association Hirtshals Service Group participated at Northern Europe's largest fishing exhibition DanFish International in Aalborg. 24 service companies from Hirtshals were gathered on a large stand, which provided the visitors with a good overview of the services that can be found in Hirtshals.

One of the new companies in Hirtshals is Hirtshals Yard that participated for the first time. Co-owner and project manager at Hirtshals Yard Jesper Reinholt says:
- DanFish has been very good for us. People have shown a great interest in Hirtshals Yard, even more than we had anticipated. We have talked to a lot of different people - not only existing customers, but we have also made a lot of new contacts, which we now have to go home and work on.

Project manager at Hirtshals Yard Ove Jensen continues:
- What has been very interesting for us is that it is not only the fishing fleet, which has shown interest in us. We have also received enquiries from tug and security companies. The more we can attract to Hirtshals the better. We use many of the other companies in the service group as subcontractors, so every time we get a new order it means more business for the other companies in Hirtshals as well.

A recurring activity at the Hirtshals stand is the Danish Championship in plaice skinning, where members from the different fishermen's association in Denmark compete against each other. This year, the competition was won by Strandby Fishermen's Association, followed by Skagen Fishermen's Association in second place and Hirtshals Fishermen's Association in third place.
