The local company Weesgaard Mechanical Support is currently finishing a three-week project on the research vessel Dana. During the project, Dana has been located alongside quay at the Port of Hirtshals. For Weesgaard Mechanical Support this project has been the first job of this size at the location the Port of Hirtshals.

As part of its new Scandinavian strategy, the Belgian based transport concern ECS - European Containers has chosen to focus on Hirtshals as a future logistics centre, and based on this strategic decision ECS has now placed transport equipment in Hirtshals.

Wednesday 2 November, the Port of Hirtshals has reached another important milestone, as the port in coordination with Fjord Line will change the traffic for the land expansion, which was started in May 2015, and start using the new road system. Over the summer, new roads have been constructed on the land expansion, and Fjord Line has established new check-in and customs facilities.

8 months after the start up at the Port of Hirtshals, CLdN strengthens the service between Zeebrugge and Hirtshals, and simultaneously opens a new service between Rotterdam and Hirtshals. With the expansion of the network, CLdN will now have services in both directions between Gothenburg and Hirtshals, and Hirtshals and the Benelux.

The newly started company Nordjysk Staal Service has been chosen as supplier of a large new plaice sorting system for Fiskernes Fiskesortering (the fishermen's fish sorting) in connection with an expansion of the facilities at Fish Terminal Hirtshals. Nordjysk Staal Service will deliver everything within conveyor belts, roller conveyor, steel basins and slide ways etc. Furthermore, they will assemble and mound the sorting machine, which will be delivered from Iceland. This job is the largest Nordjysk Staal Service has had to date.

CLdN's cargo service between Zeebrugge, Hirtshals and Gothenburg continues the positive development, and as preparation for new southbound calls, the shipping company had a test call at the Port of Hirtshals with the vessel M/S Somerset the night between Sunday and Monday, 4 and 5 September.

On Monday, August 15, 2016 the accommodation rig "Atlantic Amsterdam" was towed from the Port of Hirtshals after a six-months' stay. The rig has been hired for a new job in the North Sea and therefore it was time to say goodbye to the Port of Hirtshals.

Wednesday 1 June, the Port of Hirtshals and the Port of Zeebrugge held a transport conference in Hirtshals to inform about the new transport solutions, new markets and general savings in time and money, which can be made through the new cooperation between the two ports and the shipping company CLdN - especially for the European and Scandinavian industries and transport sector. Furthermore, CLdN used the conference to announce a planned expansion of the service at the Port of Hirtshals.

The cold store and freeze plant company Claus Sørensen has just started using its new facilities at the Port of Hirtshals, which is earlier than expected according to the timetable. Claus Sørensen has increased the capacity for cold and freeze in Hirtshals significantly, and the new expansion provides the company with more than 12,400 pallet spaces.

The first building at the Port of Hirtshals' new land expansion is under construction and will soon be finished, and this is even before the land expansion itself is complete. The building is to contain new customs facilities for the shipping company Fjord Line, which together with new check in facilities will provide the shipping company with larger capacity.

For the second time in only two months, the Port of Hirtshals has again been chosen as base for service and upgrade of another offshore rig. Again, it is the local offshore company Safe Ocean Service that has been able to attract a rig from the Singapore-based company Teras Offshore to the port. Teras Offshore already has one offshore rig "Atlantic Esbjerg" at the Port of Hirtshals.

Mid February, the Luxemburg shipping company CLdN (Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Navigation) will start up a service between the Port of Zeebrugge in Belgium and the Port of Hirtshals in Northern Denmark. By calling the Port of Hirtshals, CLdN will establish a direct connection between Northern Denmark and Zeebrugge in Belgium, and in a parallel cooperation with Fjord Line, Color Line and Smyril Line, the new service will also create a connection between all of Norway, the North Atlantic and Zeebrugge.

In December 2015, a 16 meters long and 4 meters high snow bridge was established at Hirtshals Transport Center. The bridge was created to make it safe for truck drivers to remove snow and ice from the truck and trailer top. This way, Hirtshals Transport Center takes part in ensuring a safe transport and a good working environment for the truck drivers.
