The shipping company Beinur expands at the Port of Hirtshals

The shipping company Beinur has just begun building new and larger facilities at the Port of Hirtshals. The company has started the construction of a 1,000 sq. building, which is to contain 800 sq. storehouse and 200 sq. offices. The new building is located at Esben Snaresvej at the eastern part of the port.

Besides the new storage and office facilities, the shipping company has also just launched its new vessel HG 62 "Beinur", which is one of the largest fishing vessels in Denmark. The vessel will be used for fishing herring, mackerel and trade fish. The new HG 62 "Beinur", which is 78.5 meters long, has been built in Poland, and the shipping company expects it to arrive in Skagen on 11 January. Karstensens Skibsvaerft is to finalise the vessel before it will be put into service in the summer of 2016.

Representative for the group of owners Virgar Tindskard says:
- Currently, we are having problems finding room for all of our fishing equipment, and we have thought about consolidating our office and storehouse for some time now. With this built it finally becomes a reality.

The pelagic fishery of mackerel and herring has always been an important part of the fishery from the Port of Hirtshals, and today the main part of the Danish pelagic fleet is registered in Hirtshals. Both herring and mackerel are landed at the Port of Hirtshals, and about 95% of the mackerel landed in Denmark is landed at the Port of Hirtshals.
