The shipping company Beinur has just begun building new and larger facilities at the Port of Hirtshals. The company has started the construction of a 1,000 sq. building, which is to contain 800 sq. storehouse and 200 sq. offices. The new building is located at Esben Snaresvej at the eastern part of the port.

On Tuesday 15 December, the Port of Hirtshals will receive its third offshore rig. The rig "Atlantic Esbjerg" is an accommodation rig, which is layed up for the moment because of decreasing activity in the oil business - this period will be used for classification and preparation for new assignments. The 250,000 m² expansion of the Port of Hirtshals is going according to plans and the new business areas are becoming more visible for every day and that is arouses interest among businesses.

Being a growing company with a focus on quality is what characterizes Brdr. Schlie's Fish Export in Hirtshals. Now the company has initiated investments worth about 15m DKK - including investments in a 1,000 m² factory expansion and new machinery. The factory will undergo a total renovation, and the new addition to the building is a direct expansion of the existing capacity. There will also be an addition to the office which will then be able to house welfare facilities for the production employees, a finance function on the 1st floor, and conference facilities on the 2nd floor.

A general growth within the offshore and maritime sector in later years is more than obvious for Duusgaard Coating in Hirtshals. This growth has created the need for bigger workshop space, and the company is currently building a new and modern spraying and drying space of 120 m².

Because of the last four years' massive growth at the offshore company Safe Ocean Service, the company needs new and bigger settings in order for the growth and development to continue. During the last couple of years, Safe Ocean Service has done work on offshore units in the oil sector as well as the wind industry, on sea installations and in other ports, but now the company wants to focus on the offshore service in its home town, at the Port of Hirtshals.

In May 2016, an increase in capacity of 12,000 pallet spaces becomes a reality when Denmark's biggest cold storage group, Claus Sørensen Group Inc., initiates an expansion of the company's cold storage at Jens Munksvej at the Port of Hirtshals.

During the first six months of 2015, the Port of Hirtshals established an emergency ferry landing at Notkajen in Hirtshals. In connection with this, Cosmos Trawl invested in a foundation for a tension winch that has been incorporated into the ramp of the emergency ferry landing. The tension winch will be used when straightening trawl wires from fishing vessels. Cosmos Trawl will set up the winch when needed.

During the first weekend of August, it is once again time for Hirtshals Fish Festival, and from Thursday, July 30, to Saturday, August 1, there will be plenty of opportunity to get new experiences and knowledge about fish. This year, the festivals also host the Local Cooking competition where 8 top-nudge restaurants in Northern Jutland compete on making the best dish with monkfish and other local ingredients.

A significant step for the modern shipping industry and climate efforts has been taken at the Port of Hirtshals in the form of Fjord Line's new LNG terminal - the first of its kind in Denmark. The shipping company Fjord Line has invested in a 500 cubic meters big tank and terminal facilities that can facilitate ships bunkering LNG in Hirtshals.

The expansion of the Port of Hirtshals east of the current port area is already making its mark on land and at sea. The entrepreneur, M. J. Eriksson A/S has started the job of filling sand onto the beach and into the ocean. This is the first part of making the 250,000 m² port area a reality.

On February 26, 2015, The Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Smith visited the Port of Hirtshals which marked the beginning of the construction that will expand the port with 250,000 m². The Port of Hirtshals is investing in the land expansion to increase the possibilities for the businesses in the area. This will make it possible for the companies to continue growing in the future.

At the Port of Hirtshals, you can find Fish Terminal Hirtshals which has some of northern Europe's best facilities for the sale of fresh fish. With its 6,500 m², the terminal holds the daily fish auction and sorting of fish which is either landed directly at the port or transported to the terminal via ferry or truck.

North Atlantic Shipping has experienced great success and that means an expansion of the office facilities at Herluf Trollesvej. When Jens Skjødt Petersen started North Atlantic Shipping back in 2006, he was the only employee in the company. Now, the company's staff includes four people and that requires more space. The newly built 1st floor will work as an office for the four employees and the current facilities will be used for meetings, file storage and lunch breaks.
