The handling of general cargo is done at the eastern part of the port which contains chilled and cold stores near the quay and therefore provides a good basis for future development of traffic.

The bulk traffic is a niche business which is continuously developed in close cooperation between companies at the port and the Port of Hirtshals.

Bulk activities at the Port of Hirtshals include today:
  • Raw materials in the form of imported stone material
  • Import of marine gas oil
  • Import of ensilage

The Port of Hirtshals has the physical surroundings for receiving dry bulk like for example stones, grain and waste because self-loading vessels or cranes requested from an external operator are used for loading and unloading.

Special cargo
