2018 was another positive year at the Port of Hirtshals

Growth for the 10th consecutive year is characterizing the Port of Hirtshals, with 148,000 units in 2018 being the largest number of lorries and trailers ever. Thereby a growth of 6,000 units has been realized compared to 2017.

In 2018, the Port of Hirtshals maintained a quantity of goods of DKK 1.9 million tonnes, which corresponded to the volume of goods in 2017. However, it is absolutely crucial to state that a stone and gravel operator has stopped its activities at the port in 2018, which has given the port a noticeable decrease in bulk activities. However, the lost is clearly matched by the growth in the lorry traffic.

Chairman of the board Anker Laden-Andersen says about the development in 2018:
- It is of course always negative to lose business, but we respond to that we this year have realized a noticeable growth in our core business - lorry traffic. The Port of Hirtshals is characterized by a location that gives a logical reason for developing multimodal and ro-ro solutions from the port, and this is the development that is becoming reality in 2018 and the previous up to 10 years.

- The result we have seen in 2018 means that our growth ambitions for the coming years have certainly not been less than earlier, when we look at the development of the activities and the level of activity realized at Hirtshals port in 2018. Our strategic focus is supported by the port's location, which interacts with the natural potentials that we can utilize.

The Port of Hirtshals is one of Denmark's largest fishing ports, and in 2018 the value of the fish landed in the harbor was DKK 560 million. This is a growth of 12.7% compared to 2017, where the landing value was DKK 497 million.

Chairman of the Board Laden-Andersen supplements:
- We have had a positive development in the fishing industry in 2018, and this is obviously satisfactory, also since the landing value realized in 2018 only har been exceeded in two out of the previous 10 years. However, we must at the same time state that there is a need to increased inflow in the form of increased quantities both for the port and the fishing industry located in Hirtshals. We must necessarily be critical of the growth strategy we have in the fisheries area and make sure that it is in balance with the conditions, so that we in the future will be as strong as possible in the fisheries sector.
