Claus Sørensen Group expands at the Port of Hirtshals
In May 2016, an increase in capacity of 12,000 pallet spaces becomes a reality when Denmark's biggest cold storage group, Claus Sørensen Group Inc., initiates an expansion of the company's cold storage at Jens Munksvej at the Port of Hirtshals.
The total expansion of the cold storage at Jens Munksvej adds up to 5,770 m² including 4,522 m² for cold storage and 1,050 m² for packaging and sorting.
In connection with the initiation of construction work, cold storage manager at Claus Sørensen Group, Morten Jensen, says:
-We have worked with the expansion of our cold storage over a long period of time and now, the construction work can finally begin. In addition to increasing our capacity in Hirtshals, we also get the opportunity of streamlining our performance, thus becoming more competitive. The new construction work also opens up for other opportunities that will help us grow. We are following the general development in Hirtshals, and our initiative will ensure that we can keep following that development.
Claus Sørensen Group's new construction is located right by the land expansion of 250,000 m² being realized by the Port of Hirtshals in 2015 and 2016. This puts the building close to the port's Østbassin 2 which has a water depth of 10.5 meters as well as to the new main road connecting Østhavnen and motorway E39.
Claus Sørensen Group Inc. has signed a project contract with cold storage specialist Aicon in connection with the construction work.
