Originally based on service of the fishing fleet, the service sector at the port is today a well-developed cluster of companies, which covers all parts of maritime service.
The service companies at the Port of Hirtshals offer qualified and competent service to all types of vessels and ships, such as supply vessels for the oil industry, fishing vessels, cargo ships, navy vessels and ferries.

The cluster of service companies offers all trade specialities that ships and vessels need in connection with maintenance, repair and reconstruction, including ship electronics, forging, painting, ship's carpenters and so on.
Besides maritime service levelled at the service of ships and vessels, the Port of Hirtshals is also home to net maker companies, sailmakers, oil companies and other supply companies.
In addition to the maritime service, MarineShaft has special competences within shaft alignment and alignment of rudder stocks. Similarly, there are companies at the port, which are specialised in ship insulation, coating and construction of special fenders on ships. Furthermore, MarineShaft offers ship service, mobile machining and repair of refrigeration / freezing systems.
The port is also home to a floating dock with a lifting capacity of up to 2,300 tonnes. Hirtshals Yard owns and run the floating dock.
There is also one slipway at the port with for four tracks and a lifting capacity of up to 600 tonnes. The slipway is run by Vestkajens Maskinværksted.
