Maritime service

Originally based on service of the fishing fleet, the service sector at the port is today a well-developed cluster of companies, which covers all parts of maritime service.

The service companies at the Port of Hirtshals offer qualified and competent service to all types of vessels and ships, such as supply vessels for the oil industry, fishing vessels, cargo ships, navy vessels and ferries.

The cluster of service companies offers all trade specialities that ships and vessels need in connection with maintenance, repair and reconstruction, including ship electronics, forging, painting and ship's carpenters.

Besides maritime service levelled at the service of ships and vessels, the Port of Hirtshals is also home to net maker companies, sailmakers, oil companies and other supply companies.

As supplement for the maritime service, there are also service companies, which hold special competences within straightening of shafts and rudder stocks. Similarly, there are companies at the port, which are specialised in ship insulation, coating and construction of special fenders on ships.

The port is also home to a covered floating dock with a lifting capacity of up to 2,800 tonnes. The covered dock makes it possible to work on vessels in all weather conditions, and to keep to the schedule. Hirtshals Yard owns and run the floating dock.

There are also two slipways at the port - a minor one for service of small fishing and leisure vessels with a lifting capacity of 50 tons, and a larger one with for four track and a lifting capacity of up to 600 tons. The slipways are run by Vestkajens Maskinværksted.

The service companies at the Port of Hirtshals is consolidated in Hirtshals Service Group, which handles the companies' joined interests and their competences.
