The Port of Hirtshals signs agreement of cooperation with the Port of Zeebrugge
In connection with the Belgian royal couple's visit to Denmark 28-30 March, the Port of Hirtshals and the Port of Zeebrugge signed an agreement of cooperation, which is to strengthen the relations between the two ports. Also, the agreement is to form the basis for a development of joined business opportunities, and a strategic cooperation between the ports. CEO at the Port of Zeebrugge Joachim Coen and chairman of the board at the Port of Hirtshals Anker Laden-Andersen signed the agreement at a ceremony for the royal visit to Copenhagen.

Another new ship for Hirtshals and a new business area for Hirtshals Yard
At the beginning of February, HG 236 "Milton" arrived in Hirtshals. HG 236 "Milton" is the latest new ship after HG 264 "Ruth" and HG 62 "Beinur". HG 236 "Milton" is designed by Vestværftet in Hvide Sande and build by the Polish yard PTS Ltd. in Stettin. Hirtshals Yard are completing and fitting out the vessel which is a new area of business for Hirtshals Yard. The vessel is expected to be ready for use in July.

Greenlandic vessels choose Hirtshals for maritime service
At the moment several Greenlandic vessels can be found at the Port of Hirtshals. All vessels are here to undergo a larger service upgrade. SARFAQ ITTUK, which is a smaller passenger vessel and part of Artic Umiaq Line that sails between Nuuk and the towns on Greenland's west coast, arrived at the end of January. Shortly thereafter, the Greenlandic cargo vessel PAJUTTAT arrived. PAJUTTAT is part of Royal Arctic Line, which transports cargo between Aalborg in Denmark and Greenland. The two vessels are expected to stay until mid-February.

The Port of Hirtshals in focus at international language camp
This weekend, the Port of Hirtshals participated in an international language camp called Sprogcamp 2017. The camp was arranged by Hjoerring Gymnasium & HF and Aalborg University and included 185 students with special language skills from 43 different Danish gymnasiums. The Port of Hirtshals was chosen as focus company for the students with English as their language. Other languages at the camp consisted of French, Spanish, German, Italian and Chinese.

Weesgaard Mechanical Support about to finish its largest project in Hirtshals so far
The local company Weesgaard Mechanical Support is currently finishing a three-week project on the research vessel Dana. During the project, Dana has been located alongside quay at the Port of Hirtshals. For Weesgaard Mechanical Support this project has been the first job of this size at the location the Port of Hirtshals.

Another milestone reached at the Port of Hirtshals' new land expansion
Wednesday 2 November, the Port of Hirtshals has reached another important milestone, as the port in coordination with Fjord Line will change the traffic for the land expansion, which was started in May 2015, and start using the new road system. Over the summer, new roads have been constructed on the land expansion, and Fjord Line has established new check-in and customs facilities.

CLdN increases the frequency to Hirtshals and adds Rotterdam to the network
8 months after the start up at the Port of Hirtshals, CLdN strengthens the service between Zeebrugge and Hirtshals, and simultaneously opens a new service between Rotterdam and Hirtshals. With the expansion of the network, CLdN will now have services in both directions between Gothenburg and Hirtshals, and Hirtshals and the Benelux.

Large job for newly established Nordjysk Staal Service at the Port of Hirtshals
The newly started company Nordjysk Staal Service has been chosen as supplier of a large new plaice sorting system for Fiskernes Fiskesortering (the fishermen's fish sorting) in connection with an expansion of the facilities at Fish Terminal Hirtshals. Nordjysk Staal Service will deliver everything within conveyor belts, roller conveyor, steel basins and slide ways etc. Furthermore, they will assemble and mound the sorting machine, which will be delivered from Iceland. This job is the largest Nordjysk Staal Service has had to date.

The shipping company CLdN is preparing for southbound calls at the Port of Hirtshals
CLdN's cargo service between Zeebrugge, Hirtshals and Gothenburg continues the positive development, and as preparation for new southbound calls, the shipping company had a test call at the Port of Hirtshals with the vessel M/S Somerset the night between Sunday and Monday, 4 and 5 September.

Departure of "Atlantic Amsterdam" accommodation rig
On Monday, August 15, 2016 the accommodation rig "Atlantic Amsterdam" was towed from the Port of Hirtshals after a six-months' stay. The rig has been hired for a new job in the North Sea and therefore it was time to say goodbye to the Port of Hirtshals.

The Port of Hirtshals and the Port of Zeebrugge increase the cooperation and CLdN plans to expand its service
Wednesday 1 June, the Port of Hirtshals and the Port of Zeebrugge held a transport conference in Hirtshals to inform about the new transport solutions, new markets and general savings in time and money, which can be made through the new cooperation between the two ports and the shipping company CLdN - especially for the European and Scandinavian industries and transport sector. Furthermore, CLdN used the conference to announce a planned expansion of the service at the Port of Hirtshals.

Claus Sørensen expands at the Port of Hirtshals
The cold store and freeze plant company Claus Sørensen has just started using its new facilities at the Port of Hirtshals, which is earlier than expected according to the timetable. Claus Sørensen has increased the capacity for cold and freeze in Hirtshals significantly, and the new expansion provides the company with more than 12,400 pallet spaces.

Construction of the first building at the Port of Hirtshals' land expansion
The first building at the Port of Hirtshals' new land expansion is under construction and will soon be finished, and this is even before the land expansion itself is complete. The building is to contain new customs facilities for the shipping company Fjord Line, which together with new check in facilities will provide the shipping company with larger capacity.

The fourth offshore rig arrives at the Port of Hirtshals
For the second time in only two months, the Port of Hirtshals has again been chosen as base for service and upgrade of another offshore rig. Again, it is the local offshore company Safe Ocean Service that has been able to attract a rig from the Singapore-based company Teras Offshore to the port. Teras Offshore already has one offshore rig "Atlantic Esbjerg" at the Port of Hirtshals.

New service between the Port of Hirtshals and Zeebrugge in Belgium
Mid February, the Luxemburg shipping company CLdN (Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Navigation) will start up a service between the Port of Zeebrugge in Belgium and the Port of Hirtshals in Northern Denmark. By calling the Port of Hirtshals, CLdN will establish a direct connection between Northern Denmark and Zeebrugge in Belgium, and in a parallel cooperation with Fjord Line, Color Line and Smyril Line, the new service will also create a connection between all of Norway, the North Atlantic and Zeebrugge.

Snow bridge established at Hirtshals Transport Center
In December 2015, a 16 meters long and 4 meters high snow bridge was established at Hirtshals Transport Center. The bridge was created to make it safe for truck drivers to remove snow and ice from the truck and trailer top. This way, Hirtshals Transport Center takes part in ensuring a safe transport and a good working environment for the truck drivers.

The shipping company Beinur expands at the Port of Hirtshals
The shipping company Beinur has just begun building new and larger facilities at the Port of Hirtshals. The company has started the construction of a 1,000 sq. building, which is to contain 800 sq. storehouse and 200 sq. offices. The new building is located at Esben Snaresvej at the eastern part of the port.

Another offshore customer for the Port of Hirtshals
On Tuesday 15 December, the Port of Hirtshals will receive its third offshore rig. The rig "Atlantic Esbjerg" is an accommodation rig, which is layed up for the moment because of decreasing activity in the oil business - this period will be used for classification and preparation for new assignments. Large investments at Brdr. Schlie's Fish Export
Being a growing company with a focus on quality is what characterizes Brdr. Schlie's Fish Export in Hirtshals. Now the company has initiated investments worth about 15m DKK - including investments in a 1,000 m² factory expansion and new machinery. The factory will undergo a total renovation, and the new addition to the building is a direct expansion of the existing capacity. There will also be an addition to the office which will then be able to house welfare facilities for the production employees, a finance function on the 1st floor, and conference facilities on the 2nd floor.

Large tension winch at the Port of Hirtshals
During the first six months of 2015, the Port of Hirtshals established an emergency ferry landing at Notkajen in Hirtshals. In connection with this, Cosmos Trawl invested in a foundation for a tension winch that has been incorporated into the ramp of the emergency ferry landing. The tension winch will be used when straightening trawl wires from fishing vessels. Cosmos Trawl will set up the winch when needed.

A significant step for the modern shipping industry and climate efforts has been taken at the Port of Hirtshals in the form of Fjord Line's new LNG terminal - the first of its kind in Denmark. The shipping company Fjord Line has invested in a 500 cubic meters big tank and terminal facilities that can facilitate ships bunkering LNG in Hirtshals.

At the Port of Hirtshals, you can find Fish Terminal Hirtshals which has some of northern Europe's best facilities for the sale of fresh fish. North Atlantic Shipping expands at the Port of Hirtshals
North Atlantic Shipping has experienced great success and that means an expansion of the office facilities at Herluf Trollesvej. When Jens Skjødt Petersen started North Atlantic Shipping back in 2006, he was the only employee in the company. Now, the company's staff includes four people and that requires more space. The newly built 1st floor will work as an office for the four employees and the current facilities will be used for meetings, file storage and lunch breaks.

Ecus & Niels Bonde Spedition ApS is a newly started customs consulting company established at Hirtshals Transport Centre at the beginning of 2014. At the beginning, the company consisted of only owner Niels Bonde, but since then Niels Bonde Spedition ApS has established a cooperation with the Swedish forwarding agent Ecus. Nor Lines increases service to the Port of Hirtshals
The Norwegian shipping company Nor Lines has increased its service to and from the Port of Hirtshals and now calls the port two times a week instead of just one. Normally, Nor Lines calls the port every Monday with the vessels M/V Cometa and M/V Tanager. However, because of increase cargo volumes from Hirtshals, Nor Lines now calls the port every Monday and Thursday.

Improved conditions for customs officers at the Port of Hirtshals
In cooperation with SKAT (the Danish Customs and Tax Administration), the three ferry companies Fjord Line, Color Line and Smyril Line, the Port of Hirtshals has made an improvement of the working conditions for the customers officers, who daily control the cars and trailers that arrives with the ferries to Hirtshals from Norway, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

The Port of Hirtshals continues its growth in 2013
In 2013, the Port of Hirtshals again substantiated is position as the commercial port of Northern Denmark. With a record turnover of DKK 63.5m (EURO 8,5m), the Port of Hirtshals presents revenue growth the fourth year in a row. The port also describes the financial result for the financial year 2013 as very satisfying - in 2013, the Port of Hirtshals has realized a financial result of DKK 9.6m (EURO 1.3m), which is more than double the financial result of 2012.

New movies about the activities at the Port of Hirtshals
It is now possible to experience the life and the activities at the Port of Hirtshals in four new movies, which the port has made about its different business areas. Transport, fishery and maritime service are the key issues in three of the movies. The forth movie shows the port's services and the employees, which the customers and users can expect to meet in their contact with the port. Another movie will be added during 2014, and this will present the development projects, which is to take place at the port in the years to come.

Crane at the Port of Hirtshals provides new opportunities
The stevedore company Hirtshals Stevedore has invested in a new crane for handling of bulk cargo such as e.g. wood pellets, logs, fodder, stone and gravel, and wood chips. The new crane is mounted with a 21 meters crane arm, which can handle 12 tons by ship's side and 6 tons when extended to 21 meters. The crane is mounted with rubber tyres and is therefore easy to manoeuvre around the port.

Another Grundfos expansion at the Port of Hirtshals
Once again, the Danish manufacturer of pumps Grundfos expands its testing activities at the Port of Hirtshals. Grundfos has entered into an agreement with the Port of Hirtshals for installation of another test system at the port. The test system will be located at Brokajen and consists of a 40" container that contains an ultra-filtration system and a reverse osmosis system, which serve to purify seawater for process water.

An increasing number of ships bunker at the Port of Hirtshals
New numbers from the Port of Hirtshals show that more and more ships choose to bunker fuel at the Port of Hirtshals. Since 2010, the number of ships that bunker in Hirtshals has more than quadrupled. The vessels, which use the bunkering stations, are primarily from Norway.
